ANOSMIA, A MAJOR WORLDWIDE SOCIETAL HEALTH ISSUE
WHY ?
Smell is one of the most powerful senses.
Yet millions live without it.
The loss of smell does not simply remove a sensory perception.
It alters daily life, affects physical safety, disrupts social interactions, and can profoundly impact psychological balance.
A COMMITMENT FOR THE FUTURE
At INITIO, every fragrance we create is not simply an artefact, but an experience that engages deeper human mechanisms.
Fragrance has the power to access a more instinctive, more intimate dimension of perception, shaping how we feel, remember and interact with the world.
Today, we are taking that belief a step further, shedding light on the importance of olfactory health and helping restore the gift of smell to those who have lost it.
SMOTT PROJECT
An ambitious research program with a French multi-disciplinary team conducted by Dr Hakim Benkhatar, designed for clinicians, serving patients
INITIO is proud to announce its partnership with the Versailles Hospital, the CNRS in Paris, and more specifically with Dr Hakim Benkhatar, ENT physician and recognised scientific expert in olfaction. Together, this collaboration addresses today’s key challenges in smell disorders through an ambitious and innovative research initiative.
At the heart of this partnership lies the SMOTT project (Single Molecule Olfactory Testing & Training), a three-year scientific research program designed to transform the management of smell disorders.
Its objective is clear: to reinvent both olfactory diagnosis and training through a more precise scientific approach aligned with clinical reality.
The ultimate ambition is to design a new clinical prototype for olfactory training, bringing unprecedented precision to smell evaluation and recovery. Through this engagement, scientific research is accelerated, innovative tools for healthcare professionals are developed, and more effective solutions for patients are advanced — creating a meaningful link between fundamental research, clinical application and real human impact.
By investing in the SMOTT project, we are reclaiming a piece of what makes us human and giving back to our community in a meaningful way.
Together, we can help those who have lost their sense of smell regain it, allowing them to experience the world in a richer, more vibrant manner. As we take this step, we invite you to join us in this mission.
